Collaboration With Design Rescue LA Makes for Spectacular Contemporary Beverly Hills Wine Cellar Installation
We at Coastal Custom Wine Cellars often partner with other home design companies. We are known throughout the state of California, as well as nationally as being one of the top wine cellar builders, always doing it the RIGHT way. In this project we partnered with Catherine Lamson of Design Rescue LA to build this spectacular wine display in Beverly Hills.
Modern Design in Los Angeles
A private custom wine cellar is a very tasteful feature to add to a home. It enhances the aesthetic quality and increases the curb appeal of a residential abode. Any available living space can be converted into a climate controlled wine room, as exhibited by this recently completed modern wine cellar installations project in Beverly Hills, California. Modern design is increasing in popularity, especially in urban locations like L.A. We were excited to offer a clean design to this contemporary yet comfortable wine display space.
3D Designs Help Partners and Clients Visual Projects
As mentioned, Coastal Custom Wine Cellars partnered with Catherine Lamson of Design Rescue LA in the wine cellar design and construction of this Beverly Hills wine cellar installations project. After discussing various key features with Catherine, the Coastal team prepared a 3D design package for the homeowners to look at. We find that 3D designs help our clients visualize the project and understand what to expect.
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars provides their clients with free three dimensional illustrations, showing multiple angles of the proposed wine cellar designs. The 3D design package features an overhead view of the plan, as well as different elevations. This allows each client to review and revise the design before actual wine cellar installations take place.
Wine Cellar Project Overview
The design and construction process for this Los Angeles installation project started in January 2014 and March 2014, respectively, and the cellar was completed in June 2014. The proposed area for wine cellar construction measures 13’ wide x 4’ deep x 8’ height. The Coastal team decided to go with a seamless glass wall and entry to elegantly showcase the client’s collection of over 500 wine bottles.
Wood Wine Racks
Coastal installed Mahogany wine cellar racks with a chestnut stain and satin finish. The racking system rests on a 4-inch toe kick base, that elevates the unit a few inches off the floor, thereby keeping wine bottles safe against damage and breakage. Base molding lends a unique character to the wine racks.
The top half of the wine racking system features a spacious tabletop area, for serving and decanting wines. Single bottle compartments dominate the top and bottom part of the wine cellar racks. Openings for individual bottle storage measure 3 ¾” x 3 ¾”, and can accommodate most 750 ml bottles. A high reveal display row with LED lighting allows the client to highlight some of his favorite wine labels.
Several inches above the display row are horizontal display openings that facilitate label forward orientation of wine bottles, for easy selection and retrieval. The horizontal display racks can store two bottles in one opening, thus adding to the total bottle capacity of the wine room.
A total of 22 bottle openings for magnums (1.5L) are provided at the far left and far right of the wine racking system.
The bottom part of the wine cellar racks features more individual bottle storage openings. The rectangular openings at the far left and far right of the racking system allow for wood case or bulk storage. The wood case shelves can accommodate a total of 6 wood cases.
Wine Cellar Refrigeration by Experts
To achieve and maintain the ideal wine storage temperature in this Los Angeles home, the Coastal team utilized an Arctic Aire split refrigeration system by Arctic Metalworks Inc. A split system allows the noisiest part of the refrigeration equipment (the condensing unit) to be installed in a remote location, thus promoting whisper-quiet and ultra-efficient operation.
For this wine cellar installations project, the evaporator unit of the climate control system is mounted just above the tabletop area. In order to conceal the refrigeration equipment from view, it is covered by an operable louvered grill cover, which is constructed from the same wood variety as the wine racks, in order to blend well with the overall wine cellar design. In addition, the grill cover can be opened and closed, to allow for easy access during cleaning and maintenance.
Modern Glass Entry
Since the Beverly Hills wine cellar project is located in the living room area of the home, utilizing a seamless glass wall and entry not only enhanced the beauty of the space, but also allowed the client to tastefully display his precious wine collection, and show off the exquisite interior of wine cellar design Los Angeles.
A seamless glass wall and entryway is an amazing way to feature the different wines that are on display. It creates a visually appealing wine storage and display area, as well as provides a nice and uninterrupted view into the wine enclave.
