Together with the glass wine cellar door, this simple converted closet looks like a million dollar wine cellar. Yet given that the total “all-in” cost of this wine cellar, including the lighting came to less than $4,000, it is a great example of what can be done to make a unique feature in a home, without spending a fortune to do it.

Custom Metal Wine Racks for Custom Wine Cellars

This type of wine cellar design can work really well in a very contemporary Los Angeles home. The metal wine racks themselves are a mix of VintageView Platinum WS43 & WS33 Series racks all finished in brushed nickel, creating a floor to ceiling total wine storage capacity of 252 bottles of wine. The model numbers of the metal wine racks used denote that they can support a depth of three wine bottles. “4” meaning 4′ high and “3” meaning 3 deep, hence a WS43 is 4′ high and 3 bottles deep and a WS31 would be 3′ high but only 1 wine bottle deep.

With the use of simple plastic couplers the metal wine racks themselves can be joined or stacked and then mounted on the frames. We do however recommend caution, should you decide to use power tools as shown in the video. If you are in any doubt, do consider having a professional install them for you. These metal racks can be easily customized to most situations; they can even be mounted floor to ceiling away from a wall with wine displays on both sides creating the impression of wine bottles simply hanging in the air
