Custom Home Wine Cellar in Pennsylvania: Designed with Unique Features for a Guitar Hero

Custom Wine Cellar for a Guitar Hero in Pennsylvania

Custom Wine Cellar for a Guitar Hero in Pennsylvania

Bruce Springsteen, a guitar hero in Pennsylvania, sought the help of Coastal Custom Wine Cellars for his wine room construction project. We used an attractive and durable type of wood for the wine racks. To create a functional and beautiful wine storage system, we combined various racking styles. We also created an opening where the owner could display his guitar. This project is another impressive work of art we completed.

Lovely and Functional Custom Wine Cellar Designed with Unique Features for a Guitar Superstar

Investing in a well-design custom wine cellar offers many benefits. Storing your wine collection in cardboard boxes, kitchen shelves, or refrigerators will not help achieve proper aging.  Instead, it will damage the wines and can cause a significant expense in the future. We understand the needs and requirements for building a refrigerated wine cellar.

In addition to providing a safe wine storage room for our client’s collection, another goal of Coastal Custom Wine Cellars is to create an impressive wine display area for our customers. In one of our projects in Pennsylvania, the guitar superstar contacted us because he needed help with his wine room project.

Designing and Building a Beautiful and Functional Custom Wine Cellar

The homeowner had a compact room that was 9.5 feet high, which he wanted to convert into a stylish custom wine cellar for his collection. Coastal Custom Wine Cellars incorporated various racking styles to provide the aesthetic needs of the client. Before designing the wine cellar, we visited the site and interviewed the owner and took note of every detail.

Creating a home wine cellar design is challenging because we want to exceed the expectations of every client. We want them to be pleased with the outcome. Using our creativity, passion, and expertise, we came up with a design intended for storing a total of 1,054 bottles.

Custom Wine Racks: Design and Material

At Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, we want to create a unique wine rack design for every client. We recommend customizing your wine racks if you want to add distinctive features that will make your wine display eye-catching while keeping your bottles secure.

In this particular wine cellar project, all the wine racks are resting on a 4-inch toe kick base, elevating them above the ground. We also added a 2-step base decorative molding.

The left wall consists of a 3-level wooden case opening flanked by square bins at the bottom section. Above these wine racks is a high reveal display row that pitches the bottles at an angle. The focal point of the racking on this wall is a large rectangular open framed section, intended to feature the guitar signed by the “The Boss” himself. We installed lights to illuminate this focal point in the wine cellar.

The end racking to the left of this wall is a quarter-round display shelf. We customized the height of one of the shelves to accommodate a piece of artwork (sculpture) that the owner wanted to show off.

We installed true-radius curved corners to create a smooth transition from one wall to another. It also consists of a high reveal display row illuminated by a light valance.

On the wall across the entry (back wall), we added an arched opening with a horizontal waterfall display inside the cubicles on both sides. The waterfall displays hold the bottles sideways with their full length visible.

The wall on the right side of this custom wine cellar in Pennsylvania consists of individual wine racks with openings large enough to accommodate virtually every bottle in the market, which we call universal openings. We lined the middle section with another display row. The end racking is also a quarter-round display rack with a customized shelf intended for a piece of art that the owner wanted to highlight.

Wine Rack Material

The cellar was built using Malaysian mahogany wood species for the custom wine racks and features arched openings with surrounding waterfall displays, which further features selected wine bottles. We finished the wine racks with a Chestnut stain and semi-gloss finish.

Rolling Library Ladder: Functional Feature of the Custom Wine Cellar

We included a track in the wine racks to allow for a rolling library ladder, making it easier to move from one wall to another. The ladder was added at a later date, providing easy access to the bottles located in hard-to-reach areas of the racking.

Wine Cellar Cooling System

A Wine Cellar Cooling System from Cellarmate was Used in this Custom Wine Cellar

It is easy to overlooked design elements such as the wine cellar refrigeration. At Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, we always make sure that the right size, type, and brand of wine cooling unit is installed in every wine room. We perform a heat load calculation to do this correctly.

In this particular wine cellar project, we installed a Ducted Air Handler from Cellarmate. This type of wine cooling system allows the conditioned air to be ducted to and from the custom wine cellar.

Using a Ducted Air Handler eliminates the visibility of any equipment inside the wine room and provides a quiet operation.
